Gemini CLI

Google’s terminal coding tool. Only the registration command and the rules file name (GEMINI.md) differ; everything else is the same.

Install and sign in to Gemini CLI following Google’s instructions. Check:

터미널 창
gemini --version
Terminal
gemini mcp add cadxray uvx --from git+https://github.com/WaveSimm/cadxray#subdirectory=bridge cadxray

Unlike Codex, there is no -- separator. Or write it into ~/.gemini/settings.json directly.

~/.gemini/settings.json
{
"mcpServers": {
"cadxray": {
"command": "uvx",
"args": ["--from", "git+https://github.com/WaveSimm/cadxray#subdirectory=bridge", "cadxray"]
}
}
}

If you already have other MCP servers, add just the "cadxray" entry inside mcpServers. If you changed the port, append "--port", "9878" to args.

With FreeCAD running, open gemini and type /mcp. Seeing cadxray and its tool list is enough.

Say this
Check whether cadxray can reach FreeCAD and tell me the version.

Gemini reads GEMINI.md from the working folder. Save cadxray’s CLAUDE.md under that name.

Terminal
mkdir C:\cad-work
cd C:\cad-work
curl -o GEMINI.md https://raw.githubusercontent.com/WaveSimm/cadxray/master/CLAUDE.md
gemini
  • Screenshots: image display depends on the version. If they do not show, look at the FreeCAD window.
  • A slow first connection is the 10–30 seconds spent downloading the bridge. If the tools do not appear, call /mcp once more.
  • The prompts are the same everywhere. See Writing prompts.
