Good and bad examples

On the left, sentences that get a question back or go sideways. On the right, sentences that work the first time. The difference is almost always one of three things: numbers, a datum, or a check.

Bad Good
Make me a bracket An L bracket. Base 80×40, 4 thick; upright plate 50 tall, 4 thick; R3 on the inner corner. Two Ø6.6 holes in the base, on the centreline of the short edge, 20 apart
Drill some holes Ø5 through holes in the top face, X 15 Y 15 from the top-left corner
Add a thread M44.5×2 male thread on the outside of the cylinder, length 8, starting at the top end
Tidy it up a bit R2 fillets on the four outer vertical edges, C0.5 chamfers at the hole mouths
Bad Good
Build it from this PDF D:\dwg\cover.pdf is a 1:1 vector drawing. The outer rectangle is the plate outline and the circles are holes. Assume 3 for the thickness, and check the scale against the dimension text and tell me
Open the DXF and do it From D:\dwg\board.dxf, use the OUTLINE layer polyline as the outline and only circles of radius 0.5 or more as holes, and make a 1.6 thick board. Don’t use FreeCAD’s DXF import
Redraw the STEP Open D:\vendor\jaw.step and start with face classification. If the verdict is prismatic, stack Pads from the lower band up in order, and compare against the original with a boolean difference when you’re done
Does STL work? Bring D:\print\guide.stl in as a reference mesh and analyse the axis, bands and thread. Redraw it from those values and tell me the maximum deviation
Bad Good
Something’s off Pad001 in the Body is failing. Find the cause and show me fix candidates. Don’t apply anything before I pick
Just fix it Show me numbered candidates for the conflicting constraints in Sketch003
Check if they overlap Tell me the minimum distance and overlapping volume between Bracket and Sensor
How much does it weigh How many grams in aluminium (density 2.7), and where is the centre of gravity
Bad Good
Give me a drawing The Body as front, right, top and isometric on one A4. Dimensions: overall length, width, height and hole diameter. Title block: part name Cover, drawing number OT-2026-014. As PDF
Can it be printed Check whether it prints without supports in PETG, 0.6 nozzle, 0.3 layer, bed 220×220. Problems as a numbered list
Is it strong enough? Material PETG, left end face fixed, 20 N in −Z on the right end face. Tell me the safety factor and where the maximum stress is, and show me the colour map
  1. Leaving out units. You say cm and get mm. If your drawing is in cm, say “units are cm”.
  2. Describing instead of using the Label. Say the tree name “PadFrame”, not “that big plate”.
  3. Everything at once. Plate, holes, fillets, drawing and print check in one sentence. Three or four at a time.
  4. Not reading the AI’s assumptions. If the answer contains the word “assumed”, check it.
  5. Believing it saved. If you did not say “save it”, the file is unchanged.
